The Department of Zoology was established in 2011 under the biology section of Government College, Daman. This Department has been contributing towards imparting higher education in the area of animal sciences to the students of Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu as well as adjoining areas of Gujarat and Maharashtra. The Department of Zoology has been offering a UG program (B.Sc. Zoology) since its founding and a PG program (M.Sc. Zoology) from the academic session 2018-19. These courses are affiliated with Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat, Gujarat. The department has UG and PG laboratories, where the practical classes are conducted for a better understanding of the subject and for developing research interest in students. The Department also has a museum having a good collection of animal specimens, slides and scientific charts.
