The Department of Sociology is a newly established department and started functioning in 2018. It trains students to understand social structures, social processes, social change and thus, make sense of individual and shared experiences in their social milieu. One faculty member was recruited in June 2018 through UPSC, New Delhi. Department is equipped with computer and printer facilities along with basic infrastructure. Department is actively involved in academics and frequently conducts webinars on various relevant issues. It is currently offering only graduate courses as a subsidiary subject and planning to start the subject as a principal subject in due course.
