The Department of English came into being in the year 1966. Since its inception it has been one of the largest departments in the college, catering to the needs of all the students. At present, the faculty strength of the department is 6. The Department offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs in English Language and Literature. Several extension activities have also been undertaken by the department through clubs like Literary Club (Galleria de Literaria) and Movie club. The department is equipped with a media room. Movies, which are adaptations of books and of social significance are shown as an effort to familiarize the students with foreign cultures and ethos that they are studying about in their courses. With a team of diligent, dedicated and academically inclined faculty members, the department is constantly engaged in nurturing the academic and creative competencies of the students and thereby opening new avenues for them to excel. The department has updated and adapted itself according to the demands of the times and is practicing blended learning and at the same time is actively involved in various academic and research activities.
