The Department of Commerce was started in 1979. The first Head of the Department was Dr. P. K. Rathod. The current Head of the Department is Dr. D. C. Agrawal. It is one of the most popular streams of study available in the College and has the highest number of students enrolled under the programs it offers. The Department has qualified, motivated and competent faculty with a blend of high experience. The department is imparting higher education among students of Union Territory as well as adjoining areas. The Department of Commerce has been offering a UG program in Commerce (B.Com) since the beginning and from the academic session 2018-19, it has started a PG Program in Commerce (M.Com). The Department also offers research opportunities as Dr. S. Balasubramanian, an Associate Professor of the department is a recognised guide for Ph.D. in Commerce by VNSGU, Surat.

Students are encouraged to use the library and audio-visual systems for study purposes for which sufficient number of desktop computers have been provided in college. Students are encouraged to participate in educational tours, industrial visits, National-state level camps organised by the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, New Delhi. Students are encouraged to participate in seminars, workshops, etc. at other academic institutions.
